TrainAR captures the know-how of your most experienced engineers and replays it as live, AI-assisted training on AR glasses worn by your junior engineers in the field.
It exists to close the trade skills gap — the shortage of experienced engineers in trades like gas, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and heavy equipment service. Rather than training new engineers in classrooms or on residential customer-facing jobs they're not ready for, TrainAR lets them work alongside an AI that has the senior engineer's procedures, the manufacturer's manuals, and your tenant's knowledge base loaded — coaching them in real time, eyes on the job, hands free.
How TrainAR works in 90 seconds
- A senior engineer wears the glasses and records a procedure — boiler service, fault diagnosis, customer-facing escalation. They narrate as they work. The Core App captures their POV and audio.
- TrainAR processes the session into a structured procedure — steps, safety annotations, prerequisites, expected outcomes — using a Gemini 2.5 Pro pipeline.
- Junior engineers later run the same kind of job with the glasses in trainee mode — the AI assistant on the glasses has the procedure loaded, can answer questions, can look at what they're looking at (on request), and can fetch information from your knowledge base, manufacturer catalogues, and any custom integrations.
- Sessions are recorded, summarised, and (if integrated) written back to your field-service system — closing the loop without anyone copy-pasting anything.
The result: a junior engineer doing real work, supervised by your senior engineer's captured know-how, with safety guardrails baked in.
What you need to start
- A TrainAR tenant — your team's account on the platform. Created when you sign up.
- A pair of supported AR glasses — INMO Air 3 or Vuzix Blade 2. See Supported glasses.
- At least one engineer with admin access in the Dashboard to upload knowledge, configure integrations, and review sessions.
- (Optional, recommended) Your field-service system connected — Commusoft, Simpro, ServiceM8, Jobber, Job Logic, and others. Jobs flow in as tasks, completed sessions flow results back. See Integrations.
- (Optional) Subscriptions to relevant Marketplace bundles — e.g. the Parts & Spares bundle for UK heating engineers. See Marketplace.
The two roles your engineers play
Every engineer using TrainAR works in one of two modes — and most senior engineers move between them.
Trainer mode — the engineer is recording how they do a job. The AI listens but doesn't intervene. After the session, the platform extracts a structured procedure your team can re-use. See Trainer mode.
Trainee mode — the engineer is doing a job, with the AI actively coaching, looking at what they're looking at on request, and fetching information on demand. See Trainee mode.
